About the brewery

In 1648, the 30-year war ended with one last battle at "Red Mountain" near Zusmarshausen. The victorious Swedes stormed the brewery "Zum Grünen Baum" and drank all the barrels dry. This is the very brewery which today bears the name Schwarzbräu, owned by the Schwarz family for generations. Located in Bavarian-Swabian town of Zusmarshausen, between Ulm and Augsburg, it is known today for premium beers and can proudly call itself the "number one award-winning brewery in Germany". Traditional craftsmanship combined with state-of-the-art technology is the basis for producing the premium-quality beers that Schwarzbräu's customers have come to expect. Naturally, in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516.
